Meet Rebekah Hughes: Your Acupuncturist with a Personal Journey of Healing and Hope

Hello! I'm Rebekah Hughes, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as an acupuncturist specialising in women's health and fertility. My journey into acupuncture was not just a career decision but a deeply personal and transformative experience. Like many of the women I now work with, I struggled with infertility and recurrent miscarriages for nearly eight years. That chapter of my life was one of immense heartbreak and uncertainty, but it ultimately led me to discover the profound healing powers of acupuncture, not just for my body, but for my heart and soul.

 

My Personal Struggle with Infertility

For eight long years, my husband and I faced the emotional rollercoaster of failed pregnancies. Each time I conceived, we were filled with hope, only to be devastated by miscarriage. The emotional toll was heavy, and as many women who have experienced infertility know, it can leave you feeling powerless and unsure of where to turn next. I tried every Western medical treatment, and every new option that came our way, but nothing seemed to work. All the tests came back "normal".

As a woman going through this, I found it difficult to stay optimistic. The cycle of hope and loss was draining. However, I was always been interested in holistic and alternative medicine so I started to research ways to improve fertility from a holistic viewpoint, particularly acupuncture. It was a therapy I had heard could help with fertility, but like many people, I had my doubts anything would work.

Discovering Acupuncture: A Turning Point

Amid my struggle, I decided to try acupuncture. I remember my first sessions vividly. As soon as the needles were gently placed, I could feel something happening. It wasn’t just a physical sensation—though I felt more relaxed than I had in months—it was a feeling of flow, of something shifting. 

After only two treatments, something miraculous happened: I became pregnant again. This time, the pregnancy not only started well, but with the help of continued acupuncture treatments, I carried my child to term. After years of heartbreak, I finally gave birth to a healthy baby.

Inspired to Help Other Women

That experience changed my life in more ways than one. Acupuncture didn’t just help me sustain a healthy pregnancy; it gave me back my hope, my sense of control, and a belief in my body’s ability to heal. After giving birth, I thought a lot about how acupuncture had changed my life. I knew then that I wanted to help other women experiencing the same struggles.

Almost a year after the birth of my child, I decided to pursue a degree in acupuncture, focusing on fertility and women’s health. I wanted to offer others the same support and healing I had received and to share the hope that acupuncture brings to those dealing with infertility, recurrent miscarriage, and other challenges. My mission is simple: to provide holistic care that supports the entire journey—from trying to conceive, to pregnancy, to postpartum healing.

I believe that every woman’s journey to motherhood is unique, and that’s why I tailor my acupuncture treatments to meet the specific needs of each person who comes to see me.
